Day 14 fox Glacier to Wanaka

We headed out of Fox Glacier and went south down the coast before the road led up into Haast Pass. Vistas and waterfalls along the way, but because of so little rain, the falls are small.

We landed in Wanaka, a smaller version of Queenstown, situated on the shore of a huge lake. We walked around town a bit and had a beer overlooking the lake. The weather is clear, dry and warm, and this massive lake is rimmed with mountains-sort of Lake Tahoe meets Palm Springs with bungee jumping. There are literally 85 adventures to be had: from white water rafting and guided hikes, shooting rapids on body boards, sky diving...you name it. And Queenstown is supposed to be even busier with more options.

We had a nice dinner at a funky place called The White House, and are now ready for bed. More driving and adventures tomorrow...
